Departure’s Weight

As I prepare to leave this cherished door,
My heart weighs heavy, burdened to the core.
I must forsake the ones whose love has shined,
Those gentle souls, so gracious and so kind.

Anxiety of parting fills my breast,
And in its grip, I ponder how I’m blessed
Without the warmth of family near,
A void unfolds, stark, and severe.
